Employed as a wordsmith by Getty in 1999, I worked for 5-years in a small team assessing the meaning of words in relation to visual content.
- We cleaned partner data, withheld ambiguities and set up prompts to guide users to relevant results.
- Analysed search behaviours to develop a vocabulary of preferred terms with synonym backup.
- Referenced creative reports to work new terminology into the vocabulary
- Communicated methodology to data teams in London, Seattle and New York.
I left Getty with a deep understanding of requirements and methodologies for visual search and extensive experience in building taxonomy. Dedicated to this work, I have since contributed to search improvement for many significant archives .
They say an image speaks a thousand words. Yet, the language of images themselves …. is keywording!
